Unfortunately I never did this before - could you please provide me the required steps?

I think other people with the same problem would be thankful for a little step by step too.

@MrFoo : please try to use dselect to fine-tune your choice of packages :
Freeze your MySQL packages while you update all the other packages, then choose to update mysql-server-5.0 and mysql-client-5.0 together, excluding metapackages and mysql-*-5.1 packages.

I checked that they're both available and everything is fine : http://packages.dotdeb.org/dists/etch/mysql-dfsg-5.0/binary-i386/

I has no problem doing this on my boxes.

Hello Guillaume,

I've got a problem with aptitude and the dotdeb packages. Every time I try to do a dist-upgrade, aptitude is crying and says:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mysql-server-5.0: Depends: mysql-client-5.0 (>= 5.0.75-0.dotdeb.0) but it is not installable

The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

Keep the following packages at their current version:
mysql-client-5.0 [5.0.75-0.dotdeb.0 (, now)]
mysql-client-5.1 [Not Installed]
mysql-server [5.0.75-0.dotdeb.0 (, now)]
mysql-server-5.1 [Not Installed]

I'm trying to resolve this, but after accepting a solution, nothing seems to change and aptitude is nagging me again: The following packages are BROKEN...

What can I do?
